Tri for the Cure

The Tri for the Cure race is an all women’s triathlon that is held every year where the proceeds go to The Susan G. Komen foundation. This year it will be held on March 20, 2011 in Chandler, Arizona. The race will begin at The Chandler High School swimming pool where the contestants will swim 50 meters. Then outside the swimming pool the contestants will bike down W. Erie road for t laps or 8 miles. Then once back in the transition area, the contestants will run 2.5 miles that will end up in the Chandler High School Football field.

Anyone can register to run in the race, but you must be at least 12 years old, and you will be grouped according to you age, the registration fee for the race is $95 up until February 1st, then $110 up until March 1st, then $125 up until March 18th. The race will begin at 7:00 am in the transition area outside the school. It is recommended that you get there around 5:30 to prepare for the race.

In addition to having your registration fee go towards the cause, you an also give a straight donation to The Susan G. Komen fund. Your contribution helps the Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure provide much needed funds for the uninsured and underserved population in Central and Northern Arizona. Up to 75% of your donation will fund local breast cancer community programs for education, screening and treatment. 25% of net proceeds directly support the Komen Foundation Award and Research Grant Program.
